Biography :
Educated at Gresham's School, Holt and at RMA Sandhurst, Dan Baily was commissioned into The Royal Norfolk Regiment on 20.12.1957, serving in its 1st Bn and its successor 1st Bn 1st East Anglian Regiment. In 1st R Anglian he was IO and Adjutant 1966-68, OC A Coy in Cyprus, Tidworth and Northern Ireland 1972-74, and 2IC 1975 and 1978 in Tidworth and Northern Ireland. Awarded the M.B.E. for his work as SO2 (Staff Duties), HQ BAOR, Germany 1976-77. CO 7th R Anglian (V) 1979-82 at Leicester, during which tenure the Bn was presented with Colours. Appointed to the Special List in 1988 and worked at the Army Staff College, Camberley. Retired 1.2.1994.
