Biography :
Educated at RMA Sandhurst, on 21.10.1948 'Teddy' Turnill was commissioned into The Northamptonshire Regiment, in whose 1st Bn he served and in its successors 1st Bn 2nd East Anglian Regiment and 2nd R Anglian. OC B Coy 4th R Anglian 1967-68 in Malta. CO The Desert Regiment (Sultan of Oman's Forces) 1968-71 for which service he was awarded the O.B.E. (L.G. 12.6.1971) and the Sultan’s Bravery Medal (= DSO). He was later promoted Colonel and appointed Chief of Staff HQ ACE Mobile Force (Land), Heidelburg. Retired 1.6.1977. Died in the early 1980s.
