Biography :
Educated at Bedford Modern School and RMA Sandhurst, Keith Burch was commissioned into The Essex Regiment on 3.8.1951, serving in 1st Bn, initially UN operations including in Korea, and in Hong Kong where he held the Crown Colony's record for the 880 yds and Mile. He was also a good cross-country runner. Served in 1/3rd E Anglain. Served as GSO3 in Kenya before attending The Staff College at Camberley. Awarded M.B.E. for work as SO2, Army Staff Duties 2, Ministry of Defence (Army), 1962-64 (L.G. 1.1.1965). OC A Coy 4th R Anglian 1965-67 in Watchet, Aden, Malta and Libya. Member of Directing Staff at The Staff College 1967-69. CO 3rd R Anglian, Aldershot and Cyprus (UN) 1969-71. Pamphlet author, School of Infantry. Colonel GS, HQ 2nd Armoured Division, Lubbecke, Germany, 1976-77; awarded C.B.E. (L.G. 11.6.1977). Director of Admin Planning in MOD, Indian National Defence College and then DD Army Staff Duties in MOD. Director Personnel and then ACDS (Personnel & Logistics), Ministry of Defence, 1983-85; awarded C.B. (L.G. 31.12.1984). Retired from the Army 12.8.1985. Chapter Clerk, York Minster. Emigrated to New Zealand.
