Queen's Commendation for Brave Conduct for his rescue of a youth outside of the Harbour - London Gazette Supplement 25th August 1964:
Citation: For his courage and determination in rescuing a youth who had fallen into deep and dangerous tideway. He bravely jumped into the water and supported the boy. who could not swim, until assistance arrived.
