Biography :
Educated at Trinity College, Dublin, Richard Mayston was ordained in 1931. Commissioned into RAChD on 28.10.1936. Chaplain to 2nd Leicesters in Palestine 1938-39. Later awarded M.B.E. as Staff Chaplain to the Chaplain General, The War Office (L.G. 1.1.1944) and Mention in Despatches as Deputy Assistant Chaplain General, HQ British Commonwealth Force, Burma (L.G. 19.9.1946). Awarded C.B.E. as Assistant Chaplain General, HQ Northern Army Group, Germany, 1953-55 (L.G. 2.1.1956). Sometime Honorary Chaplain to The Queen. Retired from the Army in 1958 and became Provost of Leicester Cathedral. He died in post in 1963. He became a life member of The Royal Tigers' Association in 1960.
