Biography :
Educated at RMA Sandhurst, 'Bob' Godfrey was commissioned into The Suffolk Regiment in 1949, serving in BAOR, Malaya, Berlin, Cyprus, Sarawak. Awarded the M.C. for his actions as a Platoon Commander in 1st Suffolks, Malaya, Aug 1950-Dec 51 (L.G. 4.4.1952). Served in 4th R Anglian 1965-67 in Aden, Malta and Libya. Retired in 1969. Awarded BA degree at University of East Anglia 1973. 1973-82 taught International Affairs and War Studies at RMA Sandhurst. Author of two regimental histories: 'The History of The Suffolk Regiment - 1946-59' (0-85052-253-6, published 1988); and 'History of The Royal Norfolk Regiment 1951-69' (ISBN 0-9521770-0-5, published 1993).
