'Danny' Orr was commissioned into The Duke of Wellington's Regiment in 1930s. Commanded 2/5th Bn The Leicestershire Regiment in Tunisia and Italy 4.4.1943-16.9.1943, being wounded at Salerno on 16.9.1943. Later awarded the O.B.E. as GSO1, G3 (Operations - Greece & Yugoslavia), HQ Allied Forces HQ, Italy, 1944-45 (L.G. 15.6.1945) and US Bronze Star (L.G. 28.1.1949). Promoted Lt Col 4.2.1950. Promoted Brigadier 10.5.1957. Retired 13.4.1959
