Home town given as Leicester. Enlisted 1907-08 and served with the 2nd Bn in India before World War One. For World War One, he entered France with the 2nd Bn, 12.10.1914 and also served with them in the Mesopotamia campaign.. Promoted from Corporal 22.4.1915. Rejoined from base 29.10.1915. Transferred sick to hospital 10.1.1916. Awarded the M.M. (see London Gazette 18.10.17, p. 10730). Discharged 19.9.1919.
