Biography :
Commissioned into The Worcestershire Regiment in 1918, serving in France. Promoted Lieutenant 24.10.1919. Transferred to The Leicestershire Regiment in 1923, serving with 1st Bn at Aldershot, Egypt and India (Captain 8.5.1933). Staff Captain HQ 43 Div & South Midlands Area 1937-39. In 1939 promoted Major and appointed DAQMG HQ 43 Div, serving in Norway and being awarded a Mention in Despatches. Commanded the 1/5th Bn from August 1941 to June 1942. AA & QMG HQ Constantine Area, Algeria, 1942-Mar 1943, for which he was awarded the O.B.E. In Jan 1944 became AA & QMG No 8 Base Sub-Area. On the day he was notified of his appointment as Brigadier 'Q' Maint, HQ BAOR, he was taken ill in Hamburg and repatriated to the Ratcliffe Hospital, Oxford, where he died on 1.11.1945, aged 45 years. He is buried in Botley Cemetery, Oxfordshire.
