Home address given as Whitwick. Enlisted at Coalville, Leicestershire. Served with the 2nd Bn during World War One. Joined the Battalion in the field as reinforcement on 17.6.1915. Temporarily attached to 173 Tunnelling Company Royal Engineers Rejoined 2nd Bn 23.9.1915. As a sapper he was Killed in Action 25.9.1915, aged 31. He is commemorated on Loos Memorial, Pas de Calais, France, and his name is on a memorial tablet in the Holy Cross Church, Whitwick, Leicestershire.
