Biography :

Enlisted at Staveley. Served with the 7th Bn during World War One. Killed in action France and Flanders campaign 8.10.1918. He is buried at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gouy, Aisne, France.

Further Info: 'Derbyshire Times Newspaper 23rd November 1918 Pte Robert Watson, Leicesters, of 26 Poolsbrook, Staveley, was killed on October 8th by a machine gun bullet whilst acting as a stretcher bearer. His death was instantaneous. He enlisted on April 27th last, and went to France on August 27th. Prior to enlisting he was a miner at Markham Colliery. He leaves a widow and one child. He was 24 years of age.'
