Home address given as Newark. Enlisted at Southwell, Nottinghamshire. Served with the 1st Bn during World War One, entering France 9.9.1914. As Corporal awarded the M.M. in 1916 (L.G. 9.12.1916, p.12053). Killed in action France and Flanders campaign 23.7.1917, aged 25. He is commemorated on Loos Memorial, Pas de Calais, France.

Twin of L/Cpl Frederick Tyers also of the Leicestershire Regiment Killed 24.9.1918 during the Battle of Pontruet.
