Biography :

Enlisted in the Leicester Military District into the Leicestershire Regiment, 1894. He later served in South Africa during the Boer War.

Roll confirms this as his full bar entitlement, as he was invalided home on 1.10.1900.

Henry Tidmarsh was born in St Mary's parish, Leicester. He enlisted for service on 1.11.1894 aged 18. Promoted to Corporal on 1.1.1899, which he served as until his return from South Africa, when he resigned his rank on 4.12.1900.

Served overseas in South Africa from 16.5.1896 until 20.6.1900. The medal roll records him as being invalided home, after 8 months recuperating he was sent to Egypt between 4.2.1901 to 26.10.1902. On 21.2.1901, he was arrested and awaiting trial, being convicted in March by D.C.M. of striking his superior officer, sentenced to 112 days of imprisonment by Hard Labour. Discharged after completing his period of engagement on 31.10.1906.

His medal was advertised for sale by Liverpool medals in May 2020.
