Enlisted at Mansfield, Nottinghamshire into the Leicestershire Regiment 12.4.1923. Discharged 22.8.1937. He had previously served with the Rifle Brigade in World War One and in 4th Battalion Norfolk Regiment in 1913-1914. His service included Kingdom and Germany. Awarded Long Service and Good Conduct Medal. This medal is in the collection of Leicester City Museums Service. Some of the above information is from a private source.
