Biography :
Raymond Ernest Taylor enlisted 8.4.1930 in the Territorial Army Leicestershire Regiment and re-enlisted 24.10.1930 in the Regular Army Leicestershire Regiment for 7 years service and 5 in reserve. Extended terms of service to complete 12 years with Colours in 1937. Appointed Paid Lance Corporal 18.3.1939. L/Cpl Taylor was a recipient of the India General Service Medal with North West Frontier 1937-39 clasp, and the General Service Medal with Palestine clasp. He later served in World War Two discharged in the rank of Sergeant under paragraph 390 (XVI) Kings Regulations on 26.12.1943 His India general Service and General Service medals are on display in this museum. A scrap book compiled by him, are in the collection of Leicester City Service.
