Awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal for services in World War One. Also served as Private 31645 Seaforth Highlanders and Private 50538 Cameron Highlanders. His D.C.M. is in held by this museum.
DCM Citation:
"For conspicuous gallantry in action. He led a daring patrol and brought back most valuable information. Later he led a successful bombing attack. (13.2.1917)"
