Biography :

Serving as Lance Corporal in 1905. Promoted to Corporal 21.5.1906. Was serving with the 2nd Bn as Sergeant in 1912. His pre-war service included India. Sergeant and Warrant Officer Class 2 during World War One. Died 18.1.1940, aged 53.

Was POW at Raismes in 1918.

Father of Joseph Owen Squires who served in WWII in the Leicestershire Regiment and later REME and served with the Chindits with Orde Wingate in operation 'Thursday' in Burma, 1944, and as a Sapper was attached to 7th Leicesters, 74 Column.
