Shackleton, James Ernest

Biography :

James Shackleton enlisted into 17th Lancers in World War One as a Private (GS-4315), and served in France from 17.10.1915. Commissioned into 7th Battalion The Leicestershire Regiment on 31.8.1917. Killed in Action near Epehy in France on 21.3.1918, age 23. He is buried at Villers Hill British Cemetery, Villers-Guislain, Nord, France. There is a memorial to him in St Luke's graveyard, Uttox Road, Derby.
