Biography :

Home address given as Snaith. Henry Ruckledge enlisted at Lincoln. Promoted Lance Sergeant on 1.2.1910 and was serving with 1st Battalion in 1913. Later served in World War One with the 2nd Battalion. Awarded the DCM (L.G. 3.6.1915" "For conspicuous gallantry on 10th March 1915, at Neuve Chapelle, when he dressed the wounds of several men after being wounded himself in the leg. He then collected the sandbags and took them back to the firing line, being wounded in the wrist whilst doing so. Serjeant Ruckledge next went to the assistance of a severely wounded Officer and rendered him first aid. All these gallant actions were performed with the utmost coolness under heavy fire."). He died on 31.3.1915, of wounds received at Chapelle Chapelle, aged 37 years. He is buried at Boulougne Eastern Cemetery, Pas de Calais, France.
