Biography :

Arthur Purdy enlisted into 26th Bn The Royal Fusiliers as Private 23316 and later as Private 25080 in 9th Bn The East Surrey Regiment. Commissioned into The Leicestershire Regiment on 1.8.1917, and served in 1st Bn in France. Killed during the attack on the Hindenburg Line on 20.11.1917, aged 23. He is buried at Fifteen Ravine British Cemetery, Villers-Plouich, Nord, France.
