Awarded M.C. for his actions as a Pl Comd in 2/5th Leicesters at Montaigne Farm, Tunisia, 26 Feb-6 Mar 1943 (L.G. 22.4.1943). Also awarded MID for North Africa (L.G. 23.9.1943). Later awarded Bar to M.C. for his actions on D Day (6 Jun 1944) while serving in an assault company of 1st S Lancs.
