Biography :
John Parsons was commissioned into the RAC in 9.1.1944. Transferred to Army Air Corps that year. Granted a Short Service Commission in The Royal Leicestershire Regiment on 1.11.1946 as a Lt. Promoted Captain on 9.12.1950. Adjutant 1st R Leicesters 1949-52, in Leicester, Hong Kong and Korea, and was awarded the M.B.E. (Military Division) for gallant and distinguished services in Korea (L.G. 10.10.1952). Granted a Regular Commission 18.3.1953. Adjutant, Small Arms Wing, Hythe 1953-54. OC Training Company Depot R Leicesters 1955-1957. Promoted Major on 9.12.1957. 1958-61 Adjutant The Barbados Regiment/Staff Officer to Barbados Local Forces. OC 'B' Company 1st R Leicesters in 1962-63 in Muenster, Watchet and Hong Kong, and then Bn 2IC in Borneo 1963-64. Retired to Hythe on 1.2.1966, to run The White Hart.
