Enlisted at Leicester, 22.3.1915. Served with the 2/4th, 3/4th and 1/4th Bns in World War One, entering France 28.10.1915. Killed in action on 2.7.1917. while serving in France with the 1/4th Bn, aged 25. He is commemorated on the Arras Memorial, France.
