Severely wounded (gunshot wound to the thigh) at Kruger's Post, South Africa, whilst serving with the 1st Battalion during the Boer War. Recipient of the King's South Africa medal with 2 clasps. This item is in the collection of Leicester City Museums Service. Discharged 7.11.1908. Re-enlisted and served with the Regiment during WW1.
