Enlisted in London 2.6.1896 and served with the Regiment in South Africa. Severely wounded (gunshot wound to the thigh) at Kruger's Post, South Africa, whilst serving with the 1st Battalion during the Boer War. Recipient of the King's South Africa medal with 2 clasps. This item is in the collection of Leicester City Museums Service. Discharged 7.11.1908. Re-enlisted and served with the Regiment during WW1.
