Biography :
From Cadet, Frederick Millington was commissioned 2Lt in The Royal Leicestershire Regiment on 7.4.1946. Received General Service Medal with Palestine clasp, 1945-48. Promoted Lt (and Hon. Captain) on 1.1.1948. While attached to 1st Bn The Royal Northumberland Fusiliers, he was Killed in Action serving in Korea on 23.4.1951, aged 24. He is buried at the U.N. Military Cemetery, Korea. In the Regimental Chapel in Leicester Cathedral his name is recorded on the Roll of Honour of those of the Regiment who lost their lives during operations in Korea 1951-52. His name is similarly listed on The Armed Forces Memorial at the National Memorial Arboretum at Alrewas, Staffs. He is also commemorated in the Kirby Muxloe garden of remembrance.
His Medal 1939-1945, General Service Medal and Korea Medals are in collection of Leicester City Museums Service.
