Enlisted at Nottingham 27.6.1841, aged 18. Service included East Indies, U.K., Gibraltar, Crimea and Canada. Awarded D.C.M. for service in the Crimean War. Later served with the Royal Canadian Rifles. Information from a private source. His D.C.M. in the collection of Leicester City Museums Service. Protestant, unmarried as at 1852. As at 1852 had one Good Conduct Badge.
