Home address given as Rempstone, Leicestershire. Maurice was born about 1895 the son of Thomas and Susan Malyon. Thomas was born in Westerham, Kent, and his wife in Chippenham, Wiltshire. By the time of the 1911 Census they had been married for 23 years and had had six children of whom five were still living: William/Willie (b. Westerham Kent), Tom (b. Maidstone, Kent), Nellie (b. 1893, Westerham, Kent), Maurice (b. Westerham, Kent) and Myrtle (b. 1904, Essex). In 1891 Thomas (26), an agricultural labourer, was living at Westerham, Crockham Hill, Kent, with his wife Susan (29) and children William (1) and Tom (6 months) together with his widowed mother, Eliza Malyon (72). Thomas and Susan were still living in Westerham ten years later, at Stonestreet Cottages. They now had four children, Willie (11), Tom (10), Nellie (8) and Maurice (6). Thomas was now working as a domestic gardener. By 1911 the family had moved to Rempstone where they were living at 'The Gardens', Rempstone. Thomas was still working as a domestic gardener while his wife was employed as a laundress ('at home'). Both Willie (21) and Maurice (16) were also domestic gardeners while their sister Nellie (18) was a laundress ('at home'). There was also a second sister, Myrtle (7), who was still at school.
