Served with Leicestershire Regiment during World War One. Died 19th November 1918, aged 35. He is buried at Alexandria (Hadra) War Memorial Cemetery, Egypt.

Private Edgar Lovett of the 2nd Battalion, Leicestershire Regiment passes away in Alexandria, Egypt, aged 35.
Edgar Lovett was born in Stoney Stanton around 1883 to parents William and Mary Lovett, in 1891 the family lived on Back Street with Edgars older brother John (aged 15) and sister Frances (aged 5).
In 1901 Edgar was 17, he was working in the quarries with his father and brother, his parents had also had another child in the form of Ezra (aged 😎. By 1911 Edgar was 27 years old and still working in the quarries, on July 18th, 1911 he married Isabella Adelaide Taylor in Stoney Stanton.
Edgar joined the 2nd Battalion, Leicestershire Regiment who were sent to Mesopotamia to fight the Ottoman Empire. On the 23rd of October 1918 Edgar caught Sandfly Fever in Beirut, he was sent to a military hospital in Alexandria for a few days to recover, on the 19th of November 1918 Edgar passed away in Alexandria.
Edgar is buried in the Hadra War Memorial Cemetery in Alexandria and is remembered on Stoney Stanton War Memorial.
