Biography :
Bill Lamb was commissioned into The Leicestershire Regiment as a 2Lt on 9.3.1940, Lieutenant from 9.9.1941 and Captain in 1944. Service included the 1/5th Bn Leicestershire Regiment in Norway and UK (including in 'C' Wing 148 pre-O.C.T.U. Training Establishment) and from Dec 1941 as a Captain and Intelligence Officer in Auxiliary Units in North Lincolnshire, where among other things he led 10 Scouts to train secret forces to operate in the event of invasion during the Second World War. He is mentioned in the Lincolnshire section of Donald Hamilton Hill's book 'SOE Assignment'. In the 1960s he was the author of a book on WW1 aircraft. He died in 2000.
