Knighton, Charles Freeman - MBE

Biography :
Educated at St Albans School and the London College of Printing, Charles Knighton was commissioned into The Leicestershire Regiment on 15.3.1941 and served in 2/5th Bn in UK, Algeria and Tunisia. He was the Bn's Intelligence Officer in North Africa. As a Captain awarded M.B.E. for work as Staff Capt, GHQ 2nd Ech Central Mediteranean Forces, North Africa, Jul 1943-Dec 1944 (L.G. 21.6.1945). Promoted Major in 1945. He died on 25.10.1973, aged 64 years.
He was the son of Captain Charles Robert Knighton of the Regiment.
