Enlisted 1901 at Warrington. Granted Second Good Conduct Badge, 1906. Later served in World War One in the France and Flanders campaign, first entering France 15.11.1914. Awarded the Military Medal (see L.G. 19.3.1918, p. 3465. Killed in action France and Flanders campaign 21.7.1918, aged 36. He is commemorated Tyne Cot Memorial, Belgium.
