Biography :
Enlisted at London in about 1904. For his service in World War One, he first entered France with the 2nd Bn 12.10.1014. Awarded the D.C.M. as a Cpl while serving with the 2nd Battalion in France in World War One (L.G. 3.6.1915 "For conspicious gallantry from 10th to 12th March 1915, near Neuve Chappelle, where he displayed great courage and the utmost devotion to duty in removing the wounded from the firing line to the Aid Post for three whole days, without rest and hardly any food. During this period he was constantly under very heavy fire"). Killed in action 25.9.1915. He is buried at La Gorgue Communal Nord, France.
