Biography :

Douglas Bacon Served with The Leicestershire Regiment during World War One, entering France on 29.7.1915. As a Private he was awarded the M. M. while for his actions serving in 6th Bn at Bazentin Wood 14/15.7.1916 (London Gazette 21.09.1916, page 9199). He later served in 7th and 9th Bns, reaching the rank of Acting CSgt. He was also awarded the Meritorious Service Medal (L.G. 16.10.1919). Discharged on 19.7.1919.
He died in 1957, aged 61 years.
